Workers at the world-famous London Zoo spent hours trying to catch this bird of prey who had escaped its owners grasp.

The cheeky bird flew around the enclosure before perching itself on a tall bush, just out of the zookeepers reach.

Zookeepers tried offering the bird - apparently called Hunter - food to coax the bird back to the ground. Eventually, a member of staff climbed the tree and grabbed the bird bringing it back to its box.

The comical scene was captured between the Gorilla Kingdom and Tiger Territory.

London Zoo has been contacted for comment.

On Sunday 24th March 2019 a bird of prey escaped at ZSL London Zoo and keepers spent hours trying to catch and coax the bird back. The bird fly around the zoo a number of times until it landed in a tree. Keepers tried to call it and offered it food from the ground. Eventually more keepers came along with a ladder. A keeper went up the ladder to get closer but still the bird wasn't interested. Eventually a keeper climbed up the inside of the tree and once at the top grabbed the bird and carefully brought it down the tree to the ground. Once back in keepers care the bird was put in a box and all the keepers went back to their jobs.

It was called “Hunter”, that was the name they kept shouting.
