A husky running along train tracks was rescued by vlogger-slash-firefighter Maxx Powell in Washington.

Maxx was on his way to the store when he spotted the husky. Already filming for his YouTube channel, he says "I thought it would be interesting to film the encounter...I didn't want her traveling down the train tracks and potentially getting hit by a train or a car " when he rescued the dog on February 19.

After posting on social media, the owners eventually contacted their dogs rescuers and collected her later that night.

My name is Maxx Powell. I am a Firefighter/Emt living in the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States with my awesome wife, two crazy boys, two dogs and a Red Tailed Hawk named Carol. My family and i are extremely active and love the outdoors. We started a YouTube channel to share our adventures and to inspire others to get out of the house and make the most of their lives. We are huge animal lovers and always jump on the opportunity to help a lost animals.

In this video, a friend and i were working on a video installing some new tires on our off road machine when i realized we were missing a few items that we would need in order to proceed with our day. I ran to the store real quick and was on my way back, eager to complete our project. That's when i saw this beautiful Husky run across the road and wander on to the train tracks. I was already filming so i thought it would be interesting to film the encounter. I named her Merlin thinking it was a boy dog at first. Huskies are known to wander miles away from home and i didn't want her traveling down the train tracks and potentially getting hit by a train or a car so i decided to pick her up

I checked the homes near by but no one recognized the dog so i decided to take her back to my friends house for a little bit. I put out a few post in several "lost pets" sections of Facebook and got the dog some food and water. After a couple hours of not hearing anything i decided to take her to the local vets office to see if she had a micro chip with information about who she belonged to.

Unfortunately Merlin wasn't chipped so i brought her home to meet the family. Being a protective mother my wife was reluctant to let the dog inside at first but after the first introductions it was clear that Merlin was a very safe and obedient dog that someone loved very much. Knowing there was no room for another dog i jokingly asked her if we could keep Merlin and even went as far as to guilt trip her a little bit just to see her reaction.

We decided we would keep Merlin for a few weeks and if we couldn't find her owners then we would find her a suitable home. Fortunately it didn't come to that because our post on Facebook eventually made its way to the owners who sent me pictures and documentation to prove she was their dog. They came over to pick her up late that night and although it was a bittersweet moment i was happy to see her back home safe with her family who was very thankful to see her.

The gave us $40 dollars which i later used to buy Merlin a gift certificate at the Vets office to get her a micro chip.

Later that week i put together the video thinking it was just another regular Youtube video for that channel that probably wouldn't get many views. Its been so amazing to see that video go viral and reach millions of people. I hope it inspires people to do the same thing next time the see a dog on the loose.

Im hoping to get a husky at some point and name it Merlin but for now im pretty busy with Carol and our two labs. I am still making videos on a regular basis and hope to inspire people to work hard on their goals and dreams and never forget to live.
