This is the moment a woman devotee slips and falls while walking on fire in South India.

As the police rushed to help her, the woman managed to get back to her feet and escape with only minor burns.

The incident took place in the early hours of April 1 in Komuravelli near Siddipet in South India.

Thousands of devotees had gathered to celebrate an annual religious fair at the local Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.

Many of them had pledged to walk on fire to please the deity.

The woman devotee collided with a man, who tried walk on the hot embers, at the same time. The collision made her trip and fell.

“She reacted quickly and ran to safety. Or she could have been hurt badly,” said an eyewitness.

Police took her to a local hospital, where she was discharged after first aid.
