This is the moment when more than 400 people gathered on the cliffs of the UK's south coast and used mirrors to send an SOS signal to Europe.

The art installation saw people stand in a huge long line on the cliffs at Saltdean near Brighton on Saturday (March 30).

The crowd used mirrors of all sizes to flash out the dot, dot dot, dash, dash, dash, dot, dot dot, in a "symbolic SOS call".

The stunt was a “large scale, pro-EU, human artwork” according to a statement issued by the organiser, Bristol-based artist Duncan McKellar.

“The group successfully created a symbolic SOS call to the rest of Europe, to show the strength of the British pro-EU community in the face of Brexit chaos,” the statement added.

Duncan, who had the permission of the coastguard, worked last year on another artwork which saw people line a 1km stretch of the border between Mexico and the US.

Participants wore a mirrored mask which reflected the sun’s rays crossing the border.
