Baby monitor lizard hitches a ride on car windscreen across Thai road
This driver in Thailand was shocked after a baby monitor lizard appeared on the car windscreen.
The 30cm long reptile crawled on the bonnet mid-way through a journey in Bangkok on March 22.
The little lizard was seen flicking its tongue and glancing at the driver and his passenger as it clung onto the black wiper.
Motorist Santi Intakesorn, 29, said when he noticed the water monitor he tried to drive smoothly and at a steady pace to avoid hurting the unexpected hitchhiker.
He believes that the lizard crawled out from the abandoned field next to his home and stayed under the hood for shade - only appearing after waking up while the car was moving.
Santi said: ‘’It’s possible that the lizard was hiding inside the engine. But when the engine became hotter, it could not stand the heat so it crawled up to the bonnet.’’
As the car came to a stop at a red light, the lizard disappeared below the windscreen wiper then dropped out onto the road.
Santi joked: ‘’He must have jumped off because he got bored in the traffic jam, thinking that walking might be faster.’’
