Police were on the scene at a Co-Op store in north London on Tuesday evening (April 2) after reports of a shooting.

Video filmed at 8pm shows a police cordon in place around the popular Co-operative Food store on May's Lane in Barnet.

The store is nearby Underhill primary school and Hope Corner Community Centre.

Three police officers were on the scene as well as forensics this evening.

A message shared among parents in a local WhatsApp group said an eyewitness had witnessed "two young guys on scooter bikers firing guns, we don't know if real or not yet. I was in the Co-op and that's where we heard a gun shot. It caused panic and fear."

MPS Barnet tweeted: "Officers on scene at Mays Lane, Barnet, due to reports of a firearm having been discharged in the street. There are no casualties, officers are searching for potential suspects, a crime scene remains in place, officers are in the area providing reassurance."
