Thousands protest outside Sudan army HQ with phones in the air
Thousands of protesters continued their protest outside the Sudanese military headquarters in the capital Khartoum yesterday (April 7).
The demonstrators, calling for President Omar al-Bashir step down after 30-year rule, began their protest outside the Army HQ on on Saturday after a water and electricity outage.
Video shows thousands of protesters waving their cell phones in the air, lighting up the night sky.
Protests against al-Bashir began last December after the price of bread tripled.
The filmer told Newsflare: "I couldn't be more proud of my people, organizing such a huge protest in 30 years [of a] dictator's regime is a great way to let the world see we deserve a better future.
"There is no clear response from the army till now but hopefully they will respond today."
Security forces have since fired tear gas and charged at protestors, according to multiple reports.
The filmer added: "The situation in Khartoum is very bad." He claimed that the National Intelligence and Security Service had arrested scores of people.
