Octopus and Nudibranchs in the tidepools

Buy video

Shot while tidepooling at night with a strong video light. During the day the octopus like to under the rocks tucked away. They come out at night to feed and move about without as much fear of predation. the low tide keeps the shallow pools clear... sometimes.

One of the shots has a wave coming in unexpectedly. I was filming the octopus and the wave stirs up the sand all around the pool and i expect to lose the octopus but keep my camera planted just incase. I was so glad i did. Before the sand had settled i see a tentacle wrap around the base of my camera, and i see the octopus appear right up near the camera. It was Surreal, They are defiantly an intelligent species (if only they didnt taste so good deep fried and have such tragic lifecycles.)
