A fire in a major mall complex in Bangkok has left one person dead and two injured at time of reporting today (April 10).

The fire that started at CentralWorld, a complex that includes a hotel and office tower, started during the evening rush hour and has prompted emergency responses from rescue workers.

A massive cloud of black smoke billowed into the sky after the inferno started on the hotel's eighth floor, as hundreds were evacuated from the burning building.

At least one person is dead after flames ripped through the upper floors of a hotel tower, according to reports.

Victims are said to have jumped from the tower at CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand, in a desperate bid to escape the inferno.


Footage shows flames shooting several feet out of the tower and a large cloud of black smoke billowing into the sky.

Thousands of people were evacuated from the complex in Bangkok’s central shopping district as fire crews tries to tackle the blaze.


Reports said Wednesday afternoon's fire broke out at the Centara Grand Hotel, located next to the CentralWorld shopping centre.
