This is the stunning moment a thief runs off with a new mobile after pretending to take a test-selfie.

The man in his late 20s went to a mobile shop in Amritsar in northern India on April 6 posing as a customer. He asked for a high-end phone and told the shopkeeper that he would like to take a selfie in the sunlight outside.

After the shopkeeper agreed, he went out and jumped on the pillion of a bike driven by an accomplice. Though the shopkeeper gave a chase, the duo managed to drive away.

On April 8, the man went to another shop and tried the same trick. This time the shopkeeper had heard of the story of the earlier theft and nabbed the thief.

Police confirmed that the same man was involved in the earlier theft and identified him as Tejinder Singh. They have arrested him and are on the lookout for his companion, Mehedeep Singh, who managed to escape.
