Thousands of protestors in Sudan have lined the streets of the capital Khartoum today (April 11) as long-standing president Omar al-Bashir was arrested.

Footage shows people on their way to the sit-in area to celebrate the news shortly before the announcement was made.

Sudanese people started demonstrations since December 19th 2018 demanding the fall of the regime and removal of president Omar Al Bashir. By April 5th, 60+ people were murdered by the regime for protesting with live ammunition and tear gas. Some were tortured to death in confinement. The Sudanese Professional Association organized the protests and asked the people to gather at the Command HQ for a Million-People protest..10's of thousands sat in from April 6th - April 11th. 30 more died during those 5 days. On April 11th, the Army announced doing a statement and announced the removal of Al Bashir and his associates and a new transitional government to take charge of the country.
