A fire has erupted at the first night of the Coachella music festival causing hundreds of revellers to flee the scene in Indio, California.

"At around 2am we heard two loud explosions from our campsite near the shower block," said festival-goer Tenani French.

"We went outside to find the rear shower trailer on fire, and watched it burn while Coachella security and the local fire service arrived to fight the blaze," he added.
