This is the terrifying moment a truck driver and his passenger ran for their lives when their vehicle caught fire after slamming into a traffic light.

CCTV footage, which was filmed in Ujjain in central India on April 13, shows the truck driver lose control of the vehicle after hitting a speed bump.

The truck ploughs into the side barrier and then hits a traffic light and catches fire.

As the vehicle is engulfed in flame, the two men jump out and sprint to safety.

The truck's diesel tank cracked open spilling fuel which sparked the blaze, according to police.

A fire engine rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

None was hurt in the incident, said police.

The truck caught fire instantly after its diesel tank cracked open and spilled fuel. A fire engine rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
