Media and tourists gather at Notre Dame on morning after fire
Parisians, tourists and media organisations from around the world gathered close to Notre Dame on Tuesday morning as firefighters continued to work at the cathedral which was hours earlier ravaged by fire.
A message was scrawled in chalk on the paving stones of the banks of The Seine close the cathedral reading "thanks to God", a reference to the fact that the landmark is still standing despite fears earlier on Monday that the entire building could be lost.
