As hailstorm lashed western India’s Gujarat state, a family was filmed enjoying the phenomenon. The incident was recorded on Apr 16 in a village near Deesa city, located in Banaskantha district of the state.

Visuals showed hail stones falling on the tin roof of the house and on to the ground as the family watch in amazement.

A young boy is also seen venturing out with a steel bowl to collect the stones. A little bit later he comes back and puts the empty on his head-wearing it like a hat.

A woman, who stood there with a half-filled bowl of hail stones, also goes out to pick some more.

Footage of the surrounding shows the entire place being covered with stones.

Later, at least five people, including three minors and two women, busy themselves collecting the stones.

They also show their collection facing the camera. It is believed a man, whose voice could be heard, filmed the video.

Another video showed strong winds blowing near a highway, swaying trees. The visibility too was reduced drastically.

Meanwhile, reports said at least 11 people, including women, died as the storm battered the western state.

The woman was identified as a resident of Rajkot district. She died on Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on her.

Among the deceased, at least six people died in lightning strikes. They were residents of Mehsana, Morbi and Banaskantha districts.

Another women died in Ahmedabad district after a live wire fell on her.

A falling tree claimed the life of a man in Mehsana, while an electric pole killed another.
