A British husband was rushed to hospital after being stabbed by his angry Thai wife - because he insulted the in-laws.

Benjamin Laister Crowson, 28, and wife Monthita, 23, had been out drinking to celebrate Thailand’s Songkran new year when they returned home at 6am.

But after returning to their apartment in Pattaya, Thailand, the British man allegedly began swearing about Monthita’s family.

Monthita told police that an argument followed and she was so angry she grabbed a kitchen knife and repeatedly slashed at Benjamin.

Police and paramedics arrived shortly after and had to carry the heavily-bandaged Brit in wheelchair down the stairs.

He was taken to hospital while the drunk wife was hold by police for questioning. She allegedly told them that she ‘’stabbed her husband because he cursed about her parents’’.

Police are now hoping the couple can be reconciled to prevent the case from going to court.

Pattaya Police Chief Apichai Krobtech said: ‘’Police officers arrived at the Pandia Apartment on the Soi Bua Khao road to find an injured British male.

‘’His wife admitted attacking her husband with a knife because she was angry during an argument about her parents.

‘’We have interrogated her and will wait for the husband to be interviewed. Both were drunk at the time and if they cannot resolve the dispute it will progress according to the law.’’
