CCTV footage has emerged from China capturing the bizarre moment a heavily drunk man smashed his way through three ATM cashpoints in Jiangxi Province - in order to prove himself to his wife.

The video, from October, shows the man walking into an ATM room in the middle of the night with a wooden bench and smashing up the machines. After breaking the wood he left and returned with a heavy battery and laid into the hardware again, using it to smash the screen while making faces at the CCTV camera.

With the destruction complete, the man reportedly lay down on the street and fell asleep. According to local reports the man had been drinking with his wife and ended up arguing with her over whether he’d failed in his life choices, leading him to attack the ATMs and get arrested to prove his worth to her.
