Male Lion on the road – walking ahead of a safari vehicle
Lions (Panthera leo) are one of the most sought-after mammals to see in African national parks. A particularly good place to see Lions is the magnificent Kruger National Park in north-eastern South Africa. Lions are often seen on Kruger’s roads, particularly in the early morning if there has been a heavy dew or rain – they don’t like getting wet! This large male Lion was walking along the main H3 road in the southern section of Kruger Park ahead of a safari vehicle. The driver of the vehicle showed great respect, giving the Lion plenty of space to move. We waited, videoing and photographing him as he approached our vehicle until he came too close for us to focus.
