A powerline repairman showed off the mechanisms used to keep the power supply to a town in Greenland running, as cables are run through to shatter the ice forming on them.

This amazing clip from near the town of Nuuk in western Greenland, filmed on September 4, 2018, shows how the cables run from 1000m above sea level to a height of 5400m, and how vibration dampers have to be installed to keep the cables intact.

This is a job on the longest span of an electrical overhead powerline. It's power supply to Nuuk in Greenland. It is ca 5400 meters to the other side. We start ca 1000 meters over the sea. We mount vibration dampers. The vibration dampers reduce vibration and damage to the cord. It is of course an exciting and challenging job, but safety is always the most important.
