South Korean teenagers almost drown at Australian Beach
Three South Korean teenagers almost drowned at Avoca Beach, New South Wales, Australia.
The incident occurred at 3:30 pm Easter Sunday 21st April 2019. All the footage captured related to this particular incident.
The chronological description is as follows.
1. A local spots the teenagers caught in a rip and points out the struggling swimmers to a lifesaver. The teenagers are swimming hundreds of metres from where they were supposed to be swimming (between the yellow and red flags)
2. The lifesaver runs to the surf rescue jet craft which is quickly launched and races to the zone.
3. Meanwhile the teenagers have managed to swim back to shore with the help of some local surfers.
4. Lifesavers reach the group in their sand buggy where they administer first aid and determine that one of the teenagers has swallowed seawater and is struggling to breathe.
5. Two of the teenagers are then transported to the Avoca Beach Surf club to await an ambulance.
6. The teenager was heard to be vomiting in the first aid room.
7. The ambulance arrived and after a short time transported the youth to hospital.
8. By all reports the teenager has made a good recovery.
The youths were very fortunate to make it safely back to shore and it is a timely reminder for international visitors to swim between the flags at Australian beaches so that if they get into trouble they can raise their hands and be quickly rescued by the professionally trained lifesavers.
