Young bull African Elephants (Loxodonta africana) are often together in bachelor herds, moving and feeding together. They often test each other’s strength by wrestling with their trunks and pushing each other in order to establish their position in the dominance hierarchy. These young bulls were at the dry Mazithi Dam in Kruger National Park testing each other by wrestling and pushing until the weaker one yielded, and moved away. A small herd of Impalas had the sense to move away from the battling giants!
