Video shows firefighters as they attempt to tackle the fire, working through flames, while emergency services warned nearby residents of smoke blowing across the area.

The incident is one of several recent fires in the area, forcing the local fire brigade to clarify on their Twitter feed: “There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that any of the fires in recent weeks are connected to each other.”

A large fire destroyed the former Liquidation World store at Fitch Street Plaza Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.
Weiland Fire and Emergency Services fire Chief Denys Prevost said a call came in at 9 p.m. for the report of smoke showing from the store, at the east end of the plaza, off of Fitch Street.
Once on scene, firefighters saw a large volume of smoke pouring from the roof and flames soon broke through.
The nearest fire station is 600 metres from the location and firefighters were on scene in a minute and a half.
Thirty Welland firefighters fought the blaze, which saw the roof of the store collapse. Thorold Fire Department sent an aerial truck and six men to assist Welland.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but will be investigated. No damage figure was available.
