Mahout is killed by an amok elephant in Varkala
An elephant is brought to the temple procession in Varkala and it turns berserk and killed the second mahout, Baiju, who was a native of Kariyipra, Ezhukone, Kollam
This incident took place at around 4.30 on Friday, 12th April 2019.
The first mahout, Satheeshan is being admitted to the nearest hospital with minor injuries.
The reason behind the elephant turns berserk is that the elephant is being beaten by the drunken mahout Baiju. And suddenly the elephant stabbed the Baiju and killed on the spot.
The elephant was tethered after an hour of the incident with the help of police and locals.
