As the mercury is heading north in India, a video has emerged of a herd of elephants taking a dip in a waterbody.

The incident was filmed on Apr. 23 in Hosur region of southern India’s Tamil Nadu state.

Visuals showed at least six elephants taking a dip to keep themselves cold.

The herd looked relaxed and even played a little among themselves.

At elephants were seen taking turns in completely immersing themselves underwater.

Meanwhile, reports said the sight of the jumbos triggered a panic among locals.

During the summer months, areas in the southern part of the country face shortage of water a times, which results in the animals straying into human habitats for the search of the same.

At times, the conflicts have had fatal endings.

A video, shot earlier in 2019, showed a tusker entering the porch of the house in search of water. After discovering the tank was empty, the jumbo took out its frustration by lifting the tank and tearing it into pieces using its long tusks.

Fortunately, the elephant cooled down and no lives were lost.
