A massive fire gutted parts of a building in eastern India's Kolkata city. The incident took place on Apr 26 at around 9:40 am near Rabindra Sadan area of the city, the capital of West Bengal state.

Visuals showed thick black smoke rising up from the building as the flames raged on.

Reports said no casualties were recorded, however, stated a part of the building collapsed.

Sources said a temporary structure collapsed after fire destroyed its base.

Though not confirmed, it is believed the fire started from an electrical short circuit.

The fire was doused after an operation which lasted nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes.

An investigation to determine the cause of the fire has been initiated.
