Indian group does amazing 'Game of Thrones' theme using traditional instruments
A fascinating video has emerged from western India, where a large number of musicians played the popular Game of Thrones theme music on Indian instruments.
Comprising of both male and female musicians, the contingent used instruments like Dhol, Tasha and Bulbul (Indian Banjo) to play the popular theme song on April 6, originally composed by Ramin Djawadi, in the city of Dombivli, Maharashtra state.
Giving it their own 'desi spin', Dombivli-based group Aarambha Pratishthan fielded around 50 musicians, who took to the streets in the Maharashtran city to celebrate Gudi Pawda, the Marathi new year.
Visuals showed the musicians belting out the popular tune and even upped the tempo a little towards the end of the video. The spirited and well coordinated performance was seen live by hundreds, who throng the streets.
The music was supplement by a dance, performed by a group of teenage boys and girls.
Speaking about the performance, a spokesperson from the group told Newslions: "This particular performance was played on the occasion of Gudhipadwa by Aarambha Pratishthan. [The] Idea behind this performance or selecting the particular track was so simple. Last season of GOT was on the verge, every GOT fan was so excited and some of us too.
"We thought, let's just give a try and play this music on Dhol Tasha using Bulbul. We never thought that it will become so popular and viral."
