A cheeky female lizard stole some banana from a male’s mouth in the Australian bush.

The filmer, nature enthusiast Bob Humphries, told Newsflare: ''I threw a piece of banana to them, but it landed amongst leaf litter. The male King’s Skink smelled it, then moved to the food and began eating it.

''His mate quickly realised what was happening, and rushed to the male, grabbing the banana out of his mouth! The male tried to wrest it back again, but the female turned away from him and swallowed the lot.”

The funny clip was captured last year in Western Australia.

King’s Skink (Egernia kingii) is a large, omnivorous, live-bearing skink lizard that is found mainly close to the coast in south-western Australia. King’s Skinks grow to 55 centimetres (22 inches) long and adults weigh up to about 220 grams (8 ounces). Females give birth to 2-8 live young. King’s Skink pairs often live together – this dark brown male and his paler female were living together under a thick Tea-tree bush in the Cheynes Beach Caravan Park on Western Australia’s south coast. They were fairly tame, and emerged together to bask in the sun in the early morning. I threw a piece of banana to them, but it landed amongst leaf litter.
