A resident was left red-faced after a tropical storm blew his underwear onto a power line.

Songphon HangKlang, 19, had put his pants in front of his house to dry before the heavy storm battered in Nakhon Ratchasima, northeastern Thailand on Tuesday (30/04).

When the wind and rain had finally subsided, Songphon was shocked to see that three pairs of his y-fronts which had been pegged onto a pink rack were now 12 foot off the ground on a telegraph pole.

Songphon said: ''I went out to collect my clothes after the storm and I couldn't find my underwear until I looked up and found it hanging on the pole.''

Thailand has been experiencing freak tropical storms for the last two weeks. Weather experts have said El Nino warm phase is partly to blame, having caused soaring temperatures and humidity.

Seree Supratid, director of the Climate Change and Disaster Center at Rangsit University in Bangkok, said: ‘It’s about 30 to 40 per cent hotter this year because of El Nino. Years with the El Nino phenomenon are hotter than usual.’’
