Rescue teams have been deployed to help residents coping with deadly Cyclone Fans in east India.

Footage captured today (May 3) shows a rescue team carrying supplies to a helicopter in Visakhapatnam to be delivered in the areas most affected by the storm.

The rescuers can be later filming their trip to the cyclone-hit zones.

At least two people were killed by falling trees in the India state of Odisha, agencies reported.

More than one million people have been evacuated to shelters along the coast.

Fani is currently moving north-northeast and is expected to weaken before approaching Bangladesh.

Coast guard rescue team dispatched from Visakhapatnam to render assistance for CycloneFani in southern East India.

​The extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Fani’ had made landfall south of Puri near Ramba in the coastal belt of Odisha todate in the early this morning (May 03).
Indian Coast Guard has deployed four ships two each from Visakhapatnam and Chennai alongwith rescue team and relief materials. Two ships have been deployed with helicopter in search and rescue configuration. The likelihood of the catastrophe at sea is minimal in view of relentless effort by MRCC, ROS, Coast Guard ships and aircraft in advising and shepherding back the fishing boats to safe locations well before the arrival of Fani. The onboard helicopter will be used for dropping of relief material, rescuing of stranded personnel in the flooded and water logged area. Moreover, two fixed wing Dornier aircraft alongwith lifesaving equipment and rescue material have been mobilized and kept at short notice at Visakhapatnam. Additional ships and aircrafts are also kept standby for immediate deployment from Haldia/Kolkata for providing rescue and relief.
The Headquarters Eastern Seaboard is maintaining constant communication with its Regional Headquarters at Chennai & Kolkata to assess the developing situation and to mobilize additional resources if situation warrants.
