This is the tragic moment when a woman riding pillion gets her hair entangled in a bike wheel in eastern India. The incident happened on April 30 in Balasore town of Odisha.

According to sources, the woman and her husband who worked as migrant workers in Chandigarh had returned to their native town to set up a small business.

They were returning home when the incident happened. The woman identified as Ratna Dash had long cascading tresses. But none knew her long locks could one put life in jeopardy.

It took around 20 mins to detangle her from the bike rim. The passersby who came to her rescue first tried to detangle her hair. But it had badly coiled around the rear wheel and chain spoke. Finally, they had to chop off her beautiful locks in order to save her life.

The woman was later taken to hospital and released after giving first aid.
