This is the moment a family of five -- including three kids -- miraculously survived after a speeding truck hit their bike in north Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened around 10:45am on Thursday in Bemetera district was captured on CCTV camera. According to local media, there have been several road accident deaths in area in the recent past.

But the authorities have done little to mitigate recurring incidents of tragic deaths in road mishaps. The motorists as well as pedestrians continue to show scant regard for the traffic rules and continue risking their and their loved ones' lives.

In 2015, around 500,000 road accidents were reported in India that killed around killed about 150,000 people and injured around 350,000. As a signatory to the Brasilia declaration, India intends to reduce road accidents and traffic fatalities by 50% by 2022.

But it seems unlikely given the lackadaisical attitude of authorities, motorists and pedestrians' scant regard for traffic rules.
