Leopard cub escape deadly fate,rescued by Wildlife SOS from 45 ft deep well in India.

An approx. 5-month-old male leopard escaped a narrow brush with death after falling into a 45-feet-deep well in Manjarwadi village, Junnar. The young cub was rescued by Wildlife SOS & the Forest Department and later released back into the wild.
The Indian Leopard, is a Vulnerable species, as listed in the IUCN Red List and is widely distributed in the Indian subcontinent. With an estimated figure of 12,000-14,000 leopards remaining in the country, the need to heed even a single call for help is imperative.

One such unforeseen event was reported over the weekend in Manjarwadi, village, Junnar. The incident involved a young leopard that had fallen into a nearly 45 feet deep well. The feline was paddling to stay afloat and was at the risk of drowning in waist deep water. Concerned for its life, a local farmer immediately alerted the Forest Department. Almost immediately, Range Forest Officer Ajit Shide alerted the Wildlife SOS team at the Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Center, and both teams rushed to the location.

A crowd had gathered around the scene, so the teams had to ensure all safety measures were taken before moving on with the rescue mission. In the meantime, exhausted form trying to stay afloat, the terrified leopard managed to clamber onto an elevated ridge, but time was running out quickly.
