Blue shark goes head-to-head with diver's camera

A Blue Shark takes a interest in my camera because of the electrical signals and strange shape.

On Saturday off the coast of San Diego we had 3 Blue Sharks and 2 Makos show up...in addition to several Whales and one of the biggest Mola Molas I've ever seen.

This particular Blue Shark was very interested in my GoPro, which I had mounted on a long pole. It comes in for a nibble, not an attack. Think like how a dog tests you or a new toy, gentle with no intended malice...curiousity.

Most interesting is you can see its Nictitating membrane roll over and cover its eye. I slowed it down in the clip. This is done to protect the eye when it is feeding. You can imagine a bird or large squid could thrash quite a bit when being chased/eaten and could inflict serious damage.
