A dog fell into a well along with a leopard and survived to tell the story.

The leopard had strayed into Chikhali village near Sangamner in western India on the morning of May 6 looking for food.

The feline pursued a dog which ran for its life and both fell into a well owned by a local farmer, Vishnu Khatode.

Once inside the well, the leopard made a few half-hearted attempts at the dog but soon gave up perhaps feeling stressed out.

Both the animals sat down to rest with the dog maintaining a safe distance.

The villagers informed forest department officials, who came to rescue the animals. They first took the dog and then the leopard out of the well.

The dog went back to its village, while the leopard was released at a nearby forest after a medical checkup.
