Stunning footage shows eruption of Mount Sinabung in Indonesia
This video shows one of the largest eruptions of Mount Sinabung located on the Sumatra island, Indonesia.
Filmer Renza Pryma Ginting, a resident living in Kandibata Village, Kabanjahe District near the volcano, said the eruption occurred at 9am February 19, 2018 last year covered the mountainside in ash.
Before the mountain sending a gigantic column of ash around 5,000 metres into the sky, residents heard a very loud roar coming from the mountain.
He described the sound of the eruption as thunderous. Shortly thereafter, the sky was filled with ashes.
In the video, some people can be seen fled away from the mount, while elementary school students left school early.
Some other people seemed just stunned to see the eruption when others filmed the moment of the big eruption of Sinabung with their cellphone cameras.
The volcano, located on the Sumatra island, was dormant for four centuries before 2010 but has now experienced more than four seismic incidents in eight years.
Thousands have been forced to evacuate the area around the mountain in the past few years, according to reports.
Mount Sinabung is among more than 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which is located on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire', an area of intense seismic activity.
