Firemen able to rescue lost labrador from collapsed building in India

Rescue workers western India saved a trapped Labrador Retriever from a collapsed four-storey apartment after he was accidentally left behind by his owner.

Snipe, aged 8, was on the fourth floor of Vishal Darshan apartment in Surat, Gujarat state, when residents realised that the building had tilted to one side in the early hours of Tuesday morning (May 7).

Snipe's 65-year-old owner Kaushal Vatani managed to escape unhurt but forgot to bring his pet dog along in the chaos of evacuation around 1 am. .

According to fire department official After struggling to get on top of the debris for three hours, Snipe tried to send signals to whoever was looking by pushing through the top layer of the debris.

Fortunately, residents of a neighbouring building spotted the movement and immediately informed the Vatani family who alerted the Fire department.

Personnel with the Surat fire brigade and NGO Prayas Team Environment recovered a shivering Snipe from a heap of debris right around the break of dawn.
