Around 30 people have spent the night on the street after a huge fire at a pub with flats above in north London.

London Fire Brigade says 70 firefighters and ten fire engines were called to Caledonian Road in Islington at 11:30 pm (May 15).

Crews from Islington, Soho, Kentish Town, Stoke Newington, Lambeth and surrounding fire stations were called to the bar.

The fire was brought under control just after 4:30 am (16 May).

Station Manager Jay Tough, who is at the scene, said: "Crews have been working hard through the night to bring the fire under control.

"There were local road closures in place, and while all roads have now reopened, as it gets into the morning rush hour it will be busy and congested in the area as crews remain on scene damping down."

No casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Footage shows fire engines and firefighters at the scene as well as residents from the flats above wrapped in blankets.
