This hapless tree snake found itself with its scales in a twist - after getting stuck on an overhead power cable.

The 7ft long serpent was trying to slither along the wire from one building to another in Narathiwat, southern Thailand, on May 7.

But after getting half-way across, the arboreal ratsnake became stuck - spinning awkwardly out of control.

Fortunately there was a wildlife park range nearby who could help the non-venomous snake to safety.

They said: ‘’I wondered what kind of acrobatics were going on when I saw the snake. It was about two metres long and couldn’t get across because the cable was shaking.

‘’I recognised the snake from its red tail so I knew it was not poisonous. They look dangerous but they’re not a risk to humans.

‘’I stopped filming the video then helped it get to the other side.’’
