This kayaker spotted a seal pup that had a gillnet trapped around its neck and chased after it across Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Schalke Louw filmed as he raced after the struggling seal and pinned it down so he could remove the netting.

"I caught it, cut the gillnet off and this pup was free again to go play with its friends," Louw told Newsflare.

Once he removed the netting, he then let the seal bounce off into the ocean.

He added: "There are so many seals that get entangled in trash floating in the waters especially the pups who end up playing with it not knowing how dangerous that trash is."

This footage was filmed in May 2019.
