A mother and her son dining at a restaurant in eastern China managed to escape unhurt after a car smashed through the doors.

The CCTV footage, captured in Taizhou City in Zhejiang Province on May 21, shows a car suddenly speeding into the restaurant through the glass doors and crashing into a table where the mum and son were sat.

However, the car missed both the pair by inches. The son fell onto the floor beside the car and crawled away, while the mum stood up immediately to escape.

The car driver pressed the accelerator by mistake causing the accident, according to preliminary judgment. The case is under further investigation.
