Hundreds of K-pop fans sparked chaos after stampeding through a shopping mall to see their idols.

South Korean boy band EXO were visiting the shopping mall in Jakarta, Indonesia, yesterday (Sun) morning for a promotional event.

But when locals heard they were in the building chaotic scenes followed - with hundreds of screaming young girls racing down escalators.

Footage shows the youngsters crowding around the rails on three floors of the building, while others sprinted to the ground floor.

Onlookers described the scene as a ''k-pop apocalypse''. While others who happened to be in the building at the same time were seen in the video looking on with confusion.

No one was hurt in the incident although some mall-goers were left confused and worried about the commotion.

Unfortunately, not all of the people rushing to see the group were able to get up close to them before they left.

The three members of EXO who were present - Kai, Suho, and Chen - were in Jakarta to promote a Korean skincare brand at the Kota Kasablanka Mall.

The chaotic scenes unfolded at around 10.30am in the morning.
