A family in Randia village near Bhadrak in eastern India was left terrified when they spotted an adult python trapped in a fishing net close to their home.

A local resident Radha Nath Swain had used an abandoned fishing net to fence his garden.

On May 23, his mother came out of the house early morning and was shocked to see a 13-feet long python hanging from the net.

The snake had tried to sneak in to hunt the pet dog of the family and got snared in the net. It had then struggled to free itself and had only managed to tighten the knots around it.

Swain called a well-known local snake rescuer Mirza Mohammed Arif, who came and freed the python, after carefully cutting the wires that had trapped it.

Seeing that the snake was not injured, he took it away and released it later in a nearby forest.
