With the Cricket World Cup just around the corner, an east Indian miniature artist, L Eshwar Rao, has chosen a unique way to express his love for the game.

Rao carved the World Cup trophy on a pencil tip using tamarind seeds to wish good luck to teams playing in the world cup, finishing his work on May 28.

Rao, hailing from Jatni village in Khurda district, Odisha state, commented on the process of creating this miniature, saying he collected a bunch of tamarind seeds to be moulded in the shape of the cup.

He further commented that "making the World Cup trophy is difficult as all the three stumps should be visible and the ball needs to be at the top of the stumps." It took him two days to make the trophy.

The World Cup is scheduled to be played in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14. The hosts England will take on South Africa in the opening match of the tournament.
