Local fishermen in Vietnam were filmed bringing the carcass of a 15-ton whale to the shore in Binh Thuan Province.

A group of fishermen discovered the dead whale floating on the sea and decided to take it to the mainland for burial.

Footage shows fishermen tiding ropes around the whale carcass and using a digger to drag the corpse to the shore.

Whale-worshipping is an ancient cult in Vietnam. There are numerous temples dedicated to whales across the country and the practice of giving a dead whale an elaborate funeral is often practiced by local fishermen.

The deceased whale is buried in a funeral and exhumated three or four years after. The bones are then cleaned and placed in temples.

According to witnesses, Fishermen during the fishing trip discovered the whale's body floating on the sea. Shortly thereafter, the fishing boats brought the whale's body to the mainland for burial. The whale is about 14 meters long and weighs nearly 15 tons and is in the process of decomposition. Immediately after receiving information dozens of fishermen participated in pulling the whale's body to shore. Because whale carcasses were so heavy, they used the excavator to bring the whale to ashore. Whales are one of the fish species that Vietnamese fishermen worship. Whales are symbolic creatures for the gods of the sea. The fishermen carried out the procedure to bury the whale's body in a respectful way for the gods. After a few years, the whale skeleton will be excavated and transferred to the whale temple.
It is known that this is one of the giant whales floating into this coast.
