Travellers and Gypsies have made their way to Appleby ahead of the annual Horse Fair in Cumbria which begins on Thursday, June 6.

The footage shows the A685 in Appleby-in-Westmorland lined with hundreds of caravans and horses.

After overcrowding problems last year, the local council has greatly restricted the numbers and have stepped up the police presence considerably after many complaints from the local people and motorists using the road.

It's that time of year again when thousands of travellers and gypsies make their way to the Appleby Horse fair Bugatti in Cumbria which begins next Thursday 6th June.

This footage shows a large gathering of travellers on the side of A685 between Kirkby Stephen and Brough with many horses tethered and grazing on the grass verge. After last years trouble caused by too many using this area to stop off, the local council has greatly restricted the numbers and have stepped up the police presence considerably after many complaints from the local people and motorists using the road. So far things seem to be under control with few problems.
