Indian villagers push struggling baby elephant out of 30-foot well
Locals and forest rangers worked together to rescue a baby elephant that had fallen into an abandoned 30-foot deep well in southern India.
The six-month-old baby elephant might have fallen into the well when its herd had passed farmland.
The locals heard the cry of the baby elephant and launched the rescue operation.
Unable to pull the baby out of their own, they called the forest officials and informed them about the incident.
Once the rescue team arrived, the villagers and forest rangers tried to rescue the baby elephant out of the well.
After several rescue attempts, earth movers were brought in to break one side of the wall of the well to make a ramp for the baby to climb out.
But even after the path was created, the frightened baby elephant couldn't climb the well on its own.
After seeing the baby elephant struggling, villagers jumped into the well and pushed the elephant to the top.
The baby elephant was later taken to a wild reservoir for recovery.
