Bizarre CCTV footage has emerged from China capturing the moment a bus driver apprehended an armed robber - who then shouted confessions to other crimes and asked to be sent to jail.

The footage shows the man - armed with an axe - get on the bus in the capital city of Liaoning Province in December and order the driver to turn back. He was quickly captured by the driver and passengers, being tied up until the police arrived.

During the wait he allegedly confessed to other crimes he'd committed and proclaimed his willingness to go to the prison - even urging people to call journalists.

According to local reports he had taken psychedelic drugs earlier. He is said to have been arrested by the police, as he wished.
