Special arrangement in zoo in India to beat scorching heat wave

India is experiencing the wrath of summer and it’s going to get worse in the coming days — almost half the country has already been put on heatwave alert. Warnings were issued in as many as 16 of 36 meteorological subdivision on Wednesday.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said intense heatwave conditions were likely to continue over most parts of northwestern India. The weather forecasters declare a heatwave when maximum temperatures reach the threshold value of 40 degree Celsius in the plains and 30º C in hilly areas.
In order to protect animals and birds from soaring temperature Indian Zoo officials have made special arrangements to provide relief to the zoo inmates.Authorities using water guns to sprinkle water and have installed coolers to keep the shelter of the animals cool.Aiming to keep the body temperature low, they have also changed the diet of the animals so that they could easily digest food.Alarmed by the soaring mercury, the zoo authorities are serving the cool drinks, juices and other fluids to the animals. Cool roof paints have been provided.
The Chimpanzee enclosure has been provided with the desert cooler and other arrangements like shower bath and 24-hour water supply to make the animals comfortable.
