This is the horrifying moment a farmer was found dead after being attacked in the jungle by a seven-metre long python.

Wa Sogo, 55, was covered in bite marks with the ferocious serpent trying to swallow him in secluded woodland in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia on June 2.

Another villager named La Sini said that he was walking home from the fields when he saw the man and the snake feasting on it.

"I called people for help. I didn't know the man, but I see the snake nibbling on his neck," he said.

Ls Sini said he hit the snake's head with a piece of wood until it's bite released from the man.

Another local arrived with a machete and hacked the snake so they can take the man out. He was already dead when the snake finally released his body.

The man was identified by his family as Wa Sogo, 55, from the same village as La Sini.

He was buried near his house in Kondowa village, a place surrounded by python-infested forest in Pasarwajo Subdistrict, Buton Regency.

The victim was found to have sustained a huge snake bite on his left leg. His face was bruised and his ears were bleeding because of the snake's tight constricting.

According to his son-in-law, Amran, he did not expect Wa Sogo to be killed by a snake because that had been his usual path for many years.

"That afternoon he went to the fields, but he should have bee back before evening. When I came home, he wasn’t back yet so I became worried.

"I knew there are often snakes on the road from home heading out to our village. But I never believed it would happen to him."
