A photographer who captured an incredibly rare image of two elusive kingfishers MATING - has now pictured their chicks.

Keen amateur wildlife snapper Calvin Laidlaw, 48, spent ten hours trying to photograph the chicks on Wednesday, at a waterside beauty spot at 5am.

And the musician, from Livingston, West Lothian, was rewarded for his dedication after managing to snap the special moment the five young birds gathered together.

The pictures come just months after Calvin captured stunning images of the incredible parents mating - which he spent four years trying to get.
